Car Puja is a common Hindu practice. In Hindu culture we tend to worship or bless every new tool or instrument before we start using it. It could be anything from a Television set to vehicles. Essentially, in this Puja, a new car is blessed so that it comes in harmony to a home and to prevent it from future mishaps. It is also known as Vahana Puja.

According to the Hindu belief, a car Puja is significant for a variety of purposes.

It safeguards the driver against accidents

A Vehicle Puja is generally done when you buy a new car. Apart from this, it can also be done during festivals like Navratri, Dhanteras, Akshaya Tritiya, Gudi Padwa, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Bhai-Dooj; as these occasions are considered to be a good time to buy a car.

Not all new Car Puja’s are carried out in the same manner and the methods may slightly vary in different cases.

Steps

The Car Puja procedure is not followed in the same way everywhere. While some simply put a tilak and do an aarti, there are others who choose to chant mantras and shlokas.
